The Banff Festival of Mountain Films--and now the accompanying book festival and photo contests--are special gatherings, a time to revel in the beauty of mountains, and the passions of the people who live and work among towering peaks.

The judges have picked the best from the film entries. Also flip to the best books of the season, and you can read excerpts from the volumes of winners and runners-up. And don't forget to savor the best from the photography contest.
